Bachelor Admissions: Samordna opptak (NUCAS) and the GSU List for Foreign Applicants

If you’re applying for a bachelor’s degree in Norway, your admission route often runs through Samordna opptak (the Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service, NUCAS). For many immigrants, the make-or-break issue is whether your previous education meets Norway’s Higher Education Entrance Qualification requirements.

Deadlines (plan early)

For most applicants, the application deadline is 15 April. Samordna opptak also has deadlines for uploading documentation (often early July for final results). Some groups have earlier deadlines (often 1 March). Always confirm your category and deadlines on Samordna’s official pages.

The GSU list (foreign education “entry ticket”)

The GSU list (Higher Education Entrance Qualification for foreign applicants) is a national list used by Samordna opptak and Norwegian institutions to evaluate whether foreign secondary education qualifies for higher education entry in Norway.
